The Dark Knight

I watched "The Dark Knight" yesterday and was it great! The writing was abosolutely brilliant and by far the best part of it. The movie was about morality. From the surface, the movie would look like a poster child for moral relativity, is there such a thing as right and wrong? It is jam packed full of moral quagmires that seem to have no right answer. BUT, there is one person who always make the right decision, no matter how hard it is. And that is Batman. In the fictional world of the movie, the Joker is the one creating these quagmires and putting the officials in terribly sticky positions where there is no clear right answer, but even in those situations, you realize that there are still right and wrong answers.

Watching it, you can not help but think of real life, and the real life situations our officials are put into. But the interesting thing is that in real life, the Joker is not needed to orchestrate these predicaments, life itself is capable of doing it all on its own. Our human natures are itself enough to put us continually in positions where there is no clear right answer, but there still is a right answer even if it is hard to find. I pray that our officials find and make those right decisions. I can not help but think of President Bush, who is faced with questions like this every day. But from what I see, he is willing to make the right choice, no matter how hard it is, and stick by it. That is leadership, and that is what heroes do.

Dear Lord, please be with our President and our other officials. Please give them wisdom to make the right decisions as they make their way through these moral quagmires.
