Reusable Grocery Bags

Today my reusable grocery bags are being delivered! I am quite excited! Now, I know some hear this and say, "Oh no, not another green freak!" But truly, do not put me in that awful stereotype. Let me give the reasoning behind my recent purchase.

Our country uses an insanely huge amount of plastic grocery bags, and all of those bags have to be manufactured. If we all used reusable grocery bags, the energy needed to manufacture disposable plastic bags would be lessened and at least in a tiny way ease the energy crisis. Now, don't get me wrong, I do not have the absurd impression that everything will be fixed if we just stop using plastic grocery bags, but theoretically it could help in a minuscule way. Also, what happens when we bring loads and loads of plastic grocery bags home? The last thing I want to do is recycle them, so they end up piled up in the closet or in the trash to go into a landfill somewhere. What is the point of that? Basically, when given the option of using resusable bags, I find that personally I feel like I am wasting precious energy and using up needless space in a landfill by using disposable bags.

Now, let me point out again that I have no false impressions about saving the world through using these. It was hard enough finding a company to buy from that was not run by environmental radicals! Almost every company I went to proudly proclaimed that they were donating large portions of the profits to stop global warming! Aaaah! And I especially did not want a bag with the big words on the side, "One Bag At A Time." Global warming is a total hoax and I am not trying to save the world (one bag at a time) by using these bags! I think it is more practical and energy efficient to use reusable bags, that is it.

What Does A Conservative Stand For?

If a candidate stood on these items, I would support them fully. (though I will still vote for McCain anyway)

1. Secure the borders
2. Become energy independent by using the resources (oil, coal, etc.) from our own soil and building more refineries. Why do we buy oil from countries financing our destruction anyway?
3. Implement the Fair Tax or at least a flat tax and lower corporate taxes to 25% at the very most. Also, stop all government bullying of churches through our convoluted tax system.
4. Stop all government funding of Abortion clinics, work towards overturning Roe v. Wade and passing a "right to life" amendment.
5. Push through a federal marriage amendment. Marriage is too important to allow fifty different definitions of it.
6. Finish the job in Iraq and Afghanistan. Finished means that they are stable and secure enough to function on their own without being bullied by radicals.

Prayer

Oh, dear Heavenly father,
It seems there is nothing to lean on,
The world offers its hollow relativity,
The modern church its shallow slogans,
And I am left feeling lost and alone.

There is so much more beyond what I see,
I see all of time woven into Your sovereign plan,
But what is Your plan for me?
You care for the smallest birds and flowers,
Yet I still feel lost in the crowd.

I need You close, and I need You now,
The daily toll on me seems more than I can bear,
How will I pay money that is not there?
How will I work hours that do not exist?
How will I guide my family if I have no time left for them?
What is a man who can not even provide a roof over his family's heads?

But still I know this is in Your plan,
The worries of life are heavy,
But I trust that you will provide our daily bread.
If nothing else, I am learning humbleness from You,
I rely on You for everything,
Without You I can do nothing.

Please speak to me, give me direction,
Give me wisdom to follow Your will for my family,
Open the doors that You want me to enter,
Close the doors that are not for me,
Pour out Your amazing grace upon me and my family,
That You may be honored in everything we do.

All praise be to You, Lord,
In Jesus' name,
Amen
